Alice Lee Hasson

Alice Elizabeth Lee Hasson, 76, of Danville, died peacefully while surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 12, 2023. Born on April 12, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd B. Lee and Alice M Oberlin of Bluefield, Virginia. Alice was a 1966 Graduate of Graham High School and during high school taught dance to younger children. She spent time after graduation working with a Russian Ballet instructor in New York before returning to Bluefield and going to nursing school. She began her career at Martinsville Memorial Hospital working in the Nursery and Pediatrics unite and continued her career at Lewis Gale Medical Center as an LPN working in both the ICU and Cardiac Operation units before retiring in 2012 and moving to the Danville area. She was married to Larry Wayne Hasson, Sr. until his death in 2008 where they owned and operated an Arabian Horse Farm in Huddleston, Virginia. Alice was a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother. Alice was a selfless caregiver and spent her life helping others. After retirement, Alice volunteered at Danville Regional Hospital, assisting patients with pre-ops check ins. Alice loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved gardening and Friday lunches with her neighborhood family. Alice was extremely excited to welcome new people to the neighborhood family and loved shopping and filling welcome baskets for their arrival. Alice is survived by her two sons, Larry Wayne Hasson, Jr., and his wife, Inez, of Danville and Michael Lynn Hasson, and his wife, Amber, of Altavista; five grandchildren, Rannon (Amber), Caleb, Ryan, Megan and Jamie; five great-grandchildren, Rowan, Layton, Aubree, Calliana and Caylan and one sister, Linda Lee Mills. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jenny Lee Wilson. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel. The family will hold a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family wishes to thank all who provided support, love, and caring during her life. The family wants to especially thank Jenny Myers for the care and companionship she provided Alice during the later part of her life.
