Ann Duncan Jennings

Ann Duncan Jennings was born in Danville, VA on May 15, 1944 and lived most of her life in Danville. She passed away on March 30, 2026 after suffering three years from cancer. Ann was pre-deceased by her parents, Frank R. and Annie Blanche Duncan and by her sister Catherine D. “Kitty” Yeatts and brother, Johnny S. Duncan, all of Danville. Surviving Ann are her husband of 58 years, James L “Jim” Jennings, and their daughter, Penelope S. Rader (David) of Fincastle, VA and son, Gregory F. Simpson of Danville, VA. Also surviving are their grandson, Daniel L. Rader (Anna) of Fincastle, VA and granddaughter, Annalee Rader of London, England UK. Also surviving are Ann’s sister, Deborah D. McCubbins (Ralph) and several nieces and nephews. Following graduation from Brosville High School, while also raising two children, Ann began working at the First National Bank in Danville; while following her husband’s career path, that employment extended to banks, secretarial and federal government jobs in other locations. For 27 years, Ann lived in such places as Daleville, VA, St. Simons Island, GA, Cincinnati, OH, Washington, DC, and Florence, KY before Jim’s retirement from federal service in 1994. Upon their retirement, she and Jim returned to Danville where they continued to reside. Ann served as Secretary of the Bachelors Hall Volunteer Fire Department Board of Directors and for the Ladies Auxiliary of that same department for more than ten years. She also served as the Secretary of the Westover Hills Community Center for approximately twenty years. Throughout her life, she was the consummate daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. In the years since their retirement and their return to Danville, Ann had served our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in many different positions at Fairview Church; for many years serving as the President of the Friendship Sunday School class. Funeral Services for Ann will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Fairview Church with the Reverend Ryan Beavers and the Reverend Winston Crichlow. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. – 12:45 P.M. at Fairview Church. Interment will follow the service in Danville Memorial Gardens.
