Betty Alderson

Betty Ann Alderson, 83, formally of Birch Elmo Rd, South Boston, VA, died Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center after a decline in health for several years. Born in Pittsylvania County, VA on December 3, 1928 the daughter of the late Hezzie Forest Boswell and Bessie Talbort Boswell. Mrs. Alderson spent all of her life in Pittsylvania and Halifax Counties where she was a homemaker and worked alongside her late husband on the farm. She was a graduate of the former Wilson Memorial High School. She was a long life member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was were active as long as her health permitted, She served as the Church Pianist, Secretary and Church Treasurer. On December 24, 1946, she married Lloyd Elmo Alderson, who died on September 10, 2011. Survivors include a daughter; Sylvia A. Minalga and husband, Larry of Bozeman, MT; two sons, Lloyd Patton ?Pat? Alderson and wife, Karen of South Boston and William Dean Alderson and wife, Connie of Ringgold; eight grandchildren, Scott Alderson (Terri), Bryan Alderson (Tiffany), Brad Alderson, Chris Alderson (Hillary), Amanda A. Dooley, Amber A. Adkins, Jessica and Katie Minalga and four great-grandchildren, Alexander Alderson, Aubrey Katherine Alderson, Johnnie Lee Dooley, Jr. and Hayden Elizabeth Alderson; brothers, Ralph Boswell, and wife, Marion, of Granbury, TX; Harold Boswell, and wife, Belle, of Sutherlin, VA; sisters, Eleanor B. Alderson, of South Boston, VA; Patsy B. Watson, and husband, Elmer, of Sutherlin, VA. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a brother, David Thomas Boswell, a sister, Doris B. Roach, a great-grandson, Wyatt Clifton Monk. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. from the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel conducted by the Rev. Carl E. Burger. Interment will follow in the Alderson Family Cemetery in South Boston, VA. The family will receive friends on Monday from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and other times at the residence. Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel is respectfully serving the Alderson family.
