Brenda Dabbs Corbin

Brenda Dabbs Corbin, 82, of Danville, VA, entered the arms of her Savior on October 22, 2024. Brenda was born on April 21, 1942, in Danville, VA, to Preston Jackson Dabbs and Mary Edith Yeaman Dabbs (Doak). On February 15, 1969, she married Wyatt Saunders Corbin, who predeceased her in January, 1985. Brenda was previously married to Ronald Eugene Wilson, Sr., who departed this earth in February, 1966. She was a current member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church and former member of Third Avenue Congregational Church and Westover Baptist Church (formerly Southall Baptist Church). Over the years, she held various roles, including Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Awana Leader, Choir Member, Church Secretary, Media Ministry Worker, Ladies Fellowship, Women’s Circles, and others. Brenda worked in Customer Service at Sears in her early adult years and later as Administrative Assistant at Westover Christian Academy, Abundant Life Academy, and Gold Star Mortgage. Through her work and church affiliations, she met people from all walks in life. And those who knew her can fondly say that once you met Brenda, you had a friend forever. Brenda was a compassionate individual with a heart for God. Everyone loved Brenda because of her outgoing personality, sweet demeanor, and servant’s heart. She was always available to jump in and help where needed. Brenda was a prayer warrior. Her children grew up watching her pray fervently for others, even at times when her needs seemed to be just as great or greater than those she was praying for. She leaves behind two daughters, Karen Wilson-Dooley (Larry) and Tammy Barbour (Keith); three granddaughters, Andrea Howerton (Melvin), Jennifer Newcomb (David), and Julie Hill (Adam); two great-granddaughters, Chloe Arnold and Kelsey Karnes; and three great-grandsons, Logan Howerton, Aaron Newcomb, and Mason Newcomb. Brenda is survived by two half-sisters and two half-brothers, Roger Dabbs (Bobbie), Pylesville, MD, Linda D. Jones, Baltimore, MD, Lorraine D. Shroyer (Bob), Baltimore, MD, and Ray Dabbs (Audrey), Shrewsbury, PA, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her mother, father, and both husbands, Brenda was predeceased by her oldest sister, LaVonne Dabbs Haymore, and a son, Ronald Eugene Wilson, Jr. Brenda had a passion and talent for writing, especially poems. A few of her short stories were published in magazines, including Reader’s Digest, and one of her poems was included in a book of poetry. These accomplishments encouraged her to continue writing. She was commissioned to write poems for various individuals and occasions, which she thoroughly enjoyed doing for others. On behalf of Brenda, the family would like to thank the Nurses, CNAs, administrative personnel, and other staff at Piney Forest Health & Rehabilitation for the excellent care and friendship they provided over the past few months. Brenda’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, October 25, at 2:00 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 prior to the service. Her burial will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. At other times, the family will receive visitors at the home of Larry and Karen Dooley, 408 Mount Hermon Circle, Danville, Virginia.
