Buddy B. Brumfield

Buddy Binford Brumfield, 83, of 525 Blair Lane, Keeling, VA, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Lynchburg General Hospital after being in declining health for the last three weeks. Buddy was born on May 30, 1939 in Chatham, VA, a son of the late Ernest D. Brumfield and Ruth Yeatts Brumfield. He spent all of his life in the Danville and Pittsylvania County areas where he worked as a truck driver for Houff Trucking Company out of Lynchburg, VA until his retirement. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force in Vietnam from 1961 until 1965. He attended the Jesus Gathering on White Oak Mountain and he also volunteered with Gods Pit Crew. In his spare time, Buddy enjoyed fishing and working in his garden. He also loved to listen to bluegrass music. On December 24, 1964, Buddy married Betty Hudgins Brumfield who survives of the residence. In addition to his wife, Buddy is survived by his daughters, Robin Brumfield Ruffin (Bob) of Morehead City, NC and Jill Brumfield Blankenship (Frankie Womack) of Keeling, VA; five grandchildren, Cutler Blankenship of Fredericksburg, VA, Zachary Ruffin of Mill Creek, NC, Rainey McKinney (Jacob) of Halifax, VA, Mariah Springs (Jason) of Ringgold, VA, and Allison Womack of Danville, VA; two great grandchildren, Jericho and Eden Springs; and one great grand dog, Lettie McKinney. In addition to his parents, Buddy was predeceased by three sisters, seven brothers and a son-in-law, Lee Blankenship. A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Highland Burial Park with Mr. Randy Johnson officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force and the American Legion Dan River Post 1097. The family will receive friends at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel on Wednesday night from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. and at other times the family will be at the residence, 525 Blair Lane, Keeling, VA 24566. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial donations be made to Gods Pit Crew at 2499 N Main Street, Danville, VA 24540.
