Fred Clinton Moss

Fred Clinton Moss, 79, of 2749 Vandola Road, Danville, VA, passed from this earthly life into eternal life on June 22, 2015 at the Select Specialty Hospital, Greensboro, NC, after being in declining health for the past year. He was surrounded by his devoted and loving family. He was born on October 28, 1935, in the Vandola Community, a son of the late Willie Robert Moss and the late Mabel Gammon Moss. He was married to Louise Crook Moss on November 26, 1965, who resides at the residence. In his early years he worked at Dan River Mills. Around the early sixties he started running a grocery store in the Vandola Community. It was said of him that he raised half of the young ones in the community. Many people to this day have fond memories of Fred’s Store. Mr. Moss worked for Blackwell Motor Company from 1971-2000. He retired with 29 years of service. He was an exceptional salesman for the company and was respected for his honesty and integrity by all of his customers. He was a Charter Member of the Westover Hills Ruritan Club when it was organized in 1980. He participated in all the activities and was the treasurer for the club for 20 years. He attended Westover Hills Pentecostal Holiness Church. Fred and his wife Louise enjoyed traveling over the years and visited many places in this country as well as Canada and the Caribbean. Mr. Moss is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Louise Moss; son, Danny Davis and his wife Linda; Grandson, Danny “Bubba” Davis, Jr. and his wife Tammy; Granddaughter Tina “Sissy” Dixon and husband Danny; Step-Grandson Hunter Thompson; Step-Granddaughter Amanda Harris and husband Michael; Great Grandchildren Jessica Davis, Hannah Davis, Parker Davis, and Austin Dixon; Step Great Grandchildren, Fisher Thompson, Dylan Jefferson, Olivia Jefferson, and Audrey Harris. His special furry friends, Grand Dog Low and his Great Grand Dog Dallas. Two sisters, Frances Moss Taylor, predeceased, brother-in-law Ronnie Taylor, Brenda Moss Gammon and husband Benny; three brothers, Willie Moss and wife Lottie, Glenn Moss and his wife Vickie, Joe Moss, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel by the Rev. Cecil Coates, the Rev. Stephen White and the Rev. Jody Pollard and a special speaker, Clyde Scearce. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel and other times at the residence, 2749 Vandola Road, Danville, VA 24541. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to the Bachelors Hall Fire Dept. 1301 Berry Hill Rd Danville, VA 24541 or to the Westover Hills Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund 71 Vandola Rd Danville, VA 24541.
