Ira Dameron

Ira Bracken Dameron, 85, of 5643 Park Springs Road, Pelham, NC went home to be with Lord on Saturday, February 27, 2016 after being in declining health for the past two years. Mr. Dameron was born in Caswell County on March 4, 1930 a son to the late Ira Dameron and Helen Gatewood Dameron. He had lived all of his life in the Pelham Community where he had retired from Tobacco farming and raising Beef Cattle. Mr. Dameron was a very active member of Bethel United Methodist Church as long as his health permitted. He was a member of the Cobb Ruritan Club, the Farm Bureau of Caswell County where he had served as a Board member and he served on various U.S.D.A. committees. He was a member of the Wildwood Hunt Club for over 50 years and Mr. Dameron was a member the Caswell Brotherhood Masonic Lodge # 11 where he received his 50 year pen. He served with U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was predeceased by his former wife, Frances Williams Dameron. Mr. Dameron is survived by his wife Nellie Neal Dameron of the residence, one son Johnny Dameron & wife Wendy of Pelham, NC, two daughters, Cathy D. Aiken of Prospect Hill, NC, Ann D. Clarke & husband Brad of Cary, NC, one step daughter, Cindy Williams & husband Wayne of Vidalia, GA, one step son, Darryl Aherron & wife Missy of Ringgold, VA, one sister Betty D. Satterfield & husband Bobby of Prospect Hill, NC and one sister in law, Ruth Dameron, five grandchildren Joshua Dameron, Jacob Dameron, James Aiken, Anita Aiken & Lila Clarke. He was predeceased by one brother George Dameron. Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Dameron on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. from the Bethel United Methodist Church by the Reverend Jason Gaskin. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites by the Caswell Brotherhood Masonic Lodge # 11 and Military Honors by the U.S. Army. The family will receive friends at the church in the fellowship hall from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. and other times they will at the residence 5643 Park Springs Road, Pelham, NC 27311. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 6258 Park Springs Road, Pelham, NC 27311 or to the Alzheimers Association of Danville/ Pittsylvania County, 308 Craighead Street, Suite 104, Danville, VA 24541.
