Jane Pruitt Solomon

Jane Pruitt Solomon, 79, of Yanceyville, NC, died peacefully at home Monday June 19, 2023, after several years of declining health. A native and life-long resident of Caswell County, Jane was born August 17, 1943. She was married April 24, 1965 to the late Henry Thomas (“Tom”) Solomon, Jr. They had one son, Thom Solomon (Raleigh, NC), who survives his parents. Jane was the daughter of the late Joe Pruitt and Sally Barker Pruitt. In addition to her husband and parents, Jane was preceded in death by her sister, Frances Barker Pruitt, who died as an infant, and her twin brother, Harold Gene Pruitt. She is survived by her sisters Edith Pruitt Davis (Yanceyville) and Dean Pruitt Massey (Danville, Va.) and sister Elizabeth Pruitt Fuqua and brother-in-law Aubrey (Jr.) Fuqua (Yanceyville). Jane was affectionately known as “Nane,” a nickname given to her by the family of the late Elizabeth “Libba” Walker, who was her best friend, and as Aunt Jane to numerous nieces and nephews. Jane attended Bartlett Yancey Senior High School and worked most of her career in manufacturing for Glen Raven Mills before retiring from Royal Park. She and her husband were tireless workers with a strong belief in helping others. Jane will be remembered for her integrity, humility and kindness, and for her unconditional love to family and friends. Jane found joy in a simple life, always family first, and loved spending time with her son and family. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday June 24, 2023 at Union United Methodist Church 197 Union Church Road, Leasburg, NC with a graveside service in the church cemetery to follow. Services will be officiated by The Reverend Doctor Suzanne Cobb and Pastor Barry Solomon. A meal and time for fellowship will be hosted by Thom Solomon in the church fellowship hall immediately following the services. Everyone is welcomed. The family will also receive visitors at the home of Jane’s sister, Elizabeth Fuqua at 2228 US Hwy 158W Yanceyville, NC. The family would like to thank Authora Care Collective (Hospice) and caregivers Patty Collins and Melissa Collins, who provided Jane 24/7 care in her home for the last 12 months. A special thank you to Elizabeth, Aubrey (Jr.) and A.J. Fuqua for their unwavering support and care for Jane in recent years of declining health.
