Jeanne Barksdale Pearson

Jeanne Barksdale Pearson, 79, of 216 Stone Gate Way, Danville, VA, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Roman Eagle Health & Rehabilitation Center after a decline in health for the past several months. Mrs. Pearson was born in Pittsylvania County on July 6, 1936, a daughter of the late, John Roger Barksdale, Sr., and Porte Brumfield Barksdale. She had lived all of her life in Pittsylvania County and Danville, VA. Jeanne was a graduate of Dan River High School, Class of 1955. Mrs. Pearson had worked for Schewel Furniture Company as District Manager prior to her retirement in 1999 after 47 years of service. She retired as the Danville Branch manager and she had also worked at Rippe’s for eleven years. Jeanne was a member of Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church. She was very active in local clubs and organizations such as the Dan Pitts ABWA, BPW, the Luncheon Pilot Club, Danville Credit Women, Ya Ya Red Hatters and she also served on the Board of Directors for the March of Dimes and the Salvation Army. Jeanne was also an avid Bowler and Danville Braves Booster Club member. On June 16, 1962 at Forest Lawn Baptist Church she married William “Billy” A. Pearson, Sr., who survives of the residence. Jeanne is also survived by one son Larry “Kent” Pearson, and wife, Amy, of Ringgold; one step son William A. Pearson, Jr., and wife, Jerri, of Danville; a twin sister, June Marie Barksdale, of the residence; a brother, Larry Grove Barksdale, and wife, Daune, of Pawley’s Island, SC; and grandson, Austin Kent Pearson. She was predeceased by 3 brothers, J.R., Cecil, and Earl Barksdale; and two sisters, Hazel B. Francisco, and Elizabeth B. Morgan. Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 2:00 PM from the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel by the Rev. Frederick J. Vicks. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:30 pm until service time and at other times they will at the residence, 216 Stone Gate Way, Danville, VA, 24541.
