Master Sgt John E. Coyle, Jr., USAF Ret

John E. Coyle, Jr., 66, of Danville, VA went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 23, 2022 after being in declining health for the past year. John was born in Genoa, OH on June 5, 1956, to Jack and Ramona Coyle. His family moved to Danville in his teens where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Ravanell. With her by his side, he proudly served in the United States Air Force for more than 20 years as a medical technologist and computer programmer, retiring as a decorated veteran. They made Biloxi, MS their home and he went to work as a network analyst for Wallace Business Machines, traveling all across the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He became involved in the community by serving as an Elder at Good Shephard Lutheran Church, as a youth group leader, as a BHS band parent, and starting a Veteran owned small business with his friend Ron. After Hurricane Katrina, John served his community as the director of hurricane recovery volunteer camps, Camp Biloxi, Camp Restore, and Camp Victor. More recently, John enjoyed the promotion to Papa John. A fun and cheeky Grandpa who loved to make the grand kids laugh and think. He and his wife retired to Danville where he was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his daughter, Jillian Broome and her husband, Ryan of St. Petersburg, FL, his son, Jonathan Coyle and his wife, Katie of Delphi, IN; grandchildren, Henry, Liam, Jack and Siobhan; sister, Jane Akers; and brothers, Jim, Joey, and Jeff Coyle.; and his God Children Elizabeth, Sarah, and Dylan Treece, and Josea Jimerson. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Judy Coyle. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Christ the King Lutheran Church with Pastor Norbert Folwaczny officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the John E. Coyle Memorial Fund at Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Fund ID #7771209).
