John "Johnny" Wayne Turner

John “Johnny” Wayne Turner, 61, of 2625 Union Hall School Road, Chatham, VA went home to be with his Lord on Monday, May 19, 2025 at Centra Bedford Memorial Hospital after being in declining health for several years. Johnny was born in Danville, VA on July 5, 1963, a son of the late John H. Turner and Connie Campbell Turner. He spent all of his life in the Danville and Pittsylvania County areas where he worked for National Textile for 28 years until his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching sports, especially football and attending church. Johnny was a devoted member of Salem Church of Christ in Chatham, where he faithfully served as a deacon and an elder for as long as his health allowed; he loved his church deeply, believed in reading the Bible, attending services, and trusted wholeheartedly in the power of God's forgiveness. Johnny’s family held a special place in his heart and was deeply important to him. He leaves behind his sisters, Edna Lee Turner, Teresa T. Wilson, Rhonda C. Robertson (Peter), Debbie J. Collins (Ricky), Kimberly D. Turner, Christy Marlow (James Ray), Tina Moore, and Lisa Faye; his brother, Jason S. Turner, David Collins (Brandi) and Jimmy Collins. He also leaves behind his biological father, Bobby Lee Collins (Kitty Stevens); his nieces and nephews, Nicole Blalock (Scott), Brandon Turner (Danielle), Ricky Lee Collins, Jr. (Marley), Matthew Todd Collins, Joy and William Collins; and his great nieces and nephews, Rebecca Blalock, Logan Blalock, Emily Turner, William Turner, Brandon Turner, Jr. , Bella Collins, and Trip Collins. Funeral services for Johnny will be conducted on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with Pastor Larry Owens officiating. Interment will follow the service in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday evening at the funeral home from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. and at other times the family will be at the residence, 2625 Union Hall School Road, Chatham, VA 24531. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial donations be made to Salem Church of Christ in Chatham, VA. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Centra Hospice Team, his church, family and friends, and his loved ones for the compassion, support, and care shown to Johnny during his decline in health.
