Judy Barbour Moore

Judy Barbour Moore, 82, of Danville went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 19, 2024 after several years of declining health. Born in Danville, VA on February 15, 1942 she was the daughter of the late John Herman Barbour and Frances Hoskins Barbour. On June 16, 1962 she married Tommy Lee Moore, who survives. Survivors also include her son, Michael Moore, two nephews, John Thomas Barbour and Brian Scott Barbour. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother, Lynwood Barbour. Judy began her professional career at Dan River Inc., she worked briefly for Danville Community College, returned to Dan River Inc. and ended her career with Southeastern. Judy was a dedicated employee and a person who could get along with anyone. She was soft-spoken, funny and concerned about her fellow workers. She made lifelong friends wherever she worked. Those fortunate enough to be her friends often enjoyed her delicious prune cake and Chex mix. Judy adored her husband, Tommy, her son, Michael, and all of her dogs with a love that knew no bounds. She was loyal to her friends, her family, and her Church. Her love of the Lord could be felt by everyone around her. She had an infectious smile, a quick sense of humor, and was sharp as a tack. She was most definitely one of QVC’s finest customers and her friends and family were the recipient of many delicious goodies throughout the years. Judy had a beautiful sense of style and defined elegance. She never met a stranger and even throughout her long illness she fought the good fight. She was cracking jokes with the hospice nurses and entertaining her visitors even when she was very ill. Judy lived life to the fullest until the very end. A celebration of Judy’s life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Wright and Rev. John Losee officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30-1:45 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Unity Presbyterian Church 835 Franklin Turnpike Danville, VA 24540. Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is serving the Moore family.
