Kathryn Moore Ball

Kathryn Moore Ball, 77, of 243 Lipton Lane died Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Danville Regional Medical Center after a decline in health for the past three years. Born in Warrior Mines, WV on July 3, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Lilburn Fullen Moore and Bessie Roach Moore. Mrs. Ball retired from the Hylton Hall Offices of Dan River, Inc. She was a faithful member of Woodlawn Baptist Church for 43 years where she taught Sunday School and was a long time member of the Chancel Choir. On May 16, 1959, she married, Gary Wade Ball, who survives. In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Dawn Ball, of Danville, VA, and Beth Goard, and husband, Keith, of Dry Fork, VA; two grandchildren, Eli Goard and Sarah Goard; four sisters-in-law, Faye Light, Sylvia Ball, Patricia Ball and Fay Moore; brother-in-law, Vernon Ball, and wife, ReElla, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Betty Robinette and husband, Ed, Ola Robinette and husband, Bill, and Juanita Flippen and husband, Hassel; two brothers, James Moore and Lilburn Moore; sister-in-law Ann Marcum and husband, Harold; brothers-in-law Cecil Ball and Rudy Light. Kathryn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who gave unselfishly to her family. She enjoyed being outside, walking and spending time with her grandchildren. It was common to see “Grandma Kathryn” in the front yard playing a game of kickball with her grandchildren and kids from the neighborhood. The family would like to offer sincere gratitude to Kathryn’s caregiver, Kathy Williams, as well the staffs of Riverside Health and Rehab Center and Danville Regional Medical Center’s 5th floor. Visitation will be held Friday, August 16, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:30 at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 2:00 pm from the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel conducted by the Dr. Henry M. Meadows, Jr. and the Reverend Ronnie Brown. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Woodlawn Baptist Church Building Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
