Lillie Mae Brown

Lillie Mae Brown, 87, of Danville, VA died on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Riverside Health Care after a decline in health for several months. Mrs. Brown was born in Chatham, VA, on August 1, 1925, a daughter of the late George Willard Morrison and the late Lena Johnson Morrison. She lived all of her life in the Pittsylvania County and Danville area where she was a co-owner for the former Leon Cycle Shop for 39 years until her retirement. She was a member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church where she was a member of the Dorcas Class, a former Sunday School teacher, choir member and a member of the Ladies Missionary Group. She was also a former member of the American Business Women’s Association. On June 19, 1944 she married Leon Taylor Brown who died on August 14, 1983. Mrs. Brown is survived by a daughter, Sheryl B. Morris (Sam) of Sutherlin, VA; a son, Michael L. Brown (Becky) of Gainesville, VA; seven grandchildren, Jason Morris (Cathy) of Ringgold, VA, Adam Morris (Tiffany) of Sutherlin, VA, Stephen Brown (Sonya) of Ashburn, VA, Matt Brown (Eva) of Park City Utah, Suzanna Stieber (Jason) of Norman, OK, Zach Brown (Gisette) of Haymarket, VA, and Gabe Brown of Fairfax, VA; and fifteen great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by one sister, Margaret M. Allen; and two brothers, Gilmer Motley and Carl Daniel. A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Burial Park with the Reverend Jeffery Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and at other times they will be at the residence of her daughter, Sheryl Morris at 1068 East Hightower Road, Sutherlin, VA 24594. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Danville Life Saving Crew at 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA 24541 or to the American Lung Association at 1301 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Suite 800, Washington DC 20004.
