Loretta "Lea" Andrews Stowe

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Loretta Lea Stowe, 84, of Axton, Virginia. Although we will miss her, we know there was a joyous reunion when she was called to her heavenly home on February 5, 2026. Lea was born on December 7, 1941, Pearl Harbor Day, to Edwin R. Andrews and Susie Dunn Andrews. Lea grew up in Danville, Virginia and was a 1960 graduate of George Washington High School. She attended Longwood College and received her bachelor’s degree from Averett College. She received her master’s degree in education from the University of Virginia. On July 7, 1961, Lea married the love of her life, Morris Stowe. Together they raised three boys, Noel, Norris and Norman, and shared many adventures together. Lea will always be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a devoted and caring first grade teacher at Stony Mill Elementary School for 31 years. Lea was a faithful Christian who shared her talents as a Sunday School teacher for many years at Sharon Baptist Church. She was also a dedicated member of the Brosville Women’s Club. She was a current member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where she enjoyed attending Sunday School and worship services until her decline in health. In addition to her husband of 64 years, Lea is survived by her sister, Betty Carol King (Frank); her sons, William Noel Stowe (Annette), Norris Stowe (Vivian), and Norman Stowe (Melissa); and her brother-in-law, Gene Stowe. Also left to cherish her memory are eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lea was predeceased by her brother, Jack Andrews (Brenda); and her sister-in-law, Judy Stowe. Funeral services for Lea will be conducted on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Reverend Bob Yeaman officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM, and at other times at the residence. Interment will be private in Highland Burial Park. The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to Lisa, Cindy and Kayla for the loving care and compassion they provided to Lea. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to God’s Storehouse or Brosville Fire Department. Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Homes, Westover Chapel is respectfully serving the Stowe family.
