Luther Eugene Harris

Luther Eugene Harris, age 83, of 1220 Owl Road, Ringgold, VA, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024, at his residence. He was surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Luther was born in Pittsylvania County, VA, on March 25, 1941, and was a son of the late Lennie James Harris and Jessie Frances Marshall Harris. He spent all of his life in the Ringgold Community, where he worked as a forklift driver for Gypsum/Masonite for 40 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Non-Denomination Christian Tabernacle Church, which his father built in 1963. Luther enjoyed coaching baseball and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be truly missed. On November 4, 1961, he married his loving wife, Mildred Marie Wilson Harris. In addition to his wife, Luther is survived by his children: Randy Harris, James Harris and his wife Elizabeth, Robin Bowling and her husband Tommy, Larry Harris and his wife Angie, and Tracey Robertson and her husband Mike; his grandchildren: Casey Richardson, Jacob Ryan Irby, Meagan Milam, Zack Harris, Brandon Robertson, Brianna Brackett, CJ Robertson, Reece Harris, Dalen Robertson, Stormy Harris, Thomas Bowling II, Krystal Bowling, Abigail Harris, and William Harris; seven great-grandchildren; and his sister, Patsy Harris Wilson. He was predeceased by his daughter, Crystal Gayle Harris; brothers, Leon and Alfred Harris; and his sisters, Sylvia Bibee and Ethel Garnell Hobbs. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with Pastor David Owen and Pastor Danny Wallace officiating. Interment will follow the service at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and at other times the family will be at the residence of his son, Larry and Angie Harris, at 2721 Cedar Road Ringgold, VA. In the lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to Ringgold Fire and Rescue at P.O. Box 10 Ringgold, VA.
