Mary Meeker Connor

Mary Meeker Connor, 94, of Danville, passed away peacefully at her home on November 16, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family and caregivers. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Clyde Connor “Sonny Boy”, who was the love of her life. Together, they shared a lifetime of faith, love, and service to others. Mary was a devoted member of Fairview Church for over 60 years, where she found joy and purpose in her service to the Lord. She dedicated her life to nurturing others through her work as a Sunday School teacher, Bible study leader, and member of the church's Administrative Board and the Pastor Parrish Committee. Mary’s passion for helping others extended beyond the church doors, as she traveled on numerous mission trips and volunteered at God’s Storehouse, where she poured her heart into serving those in need. Her faith and devotion to her church and her family were the cornerstones of her life. Those who knew Mary will always remember her radiant smile and infectious laugh. Her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who encountered her. She had an incredible ability to make others feel valued and loved, and she lived her life with a quiet strength. Mary always put others before herself and is leaving an enduring impact on her family, her church, and her community. Mary is survived by her five children, Shane Connor (Kathy), Colleen Richardson (Keith), Mary Jo Kent (Mike), Maureen Engels, and Susan Moss (Mark). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Michael Connor, Allen Connor (Courtney), Landon Moss, Ryan Moss (deceased), Joselyn Kent (Carmella); her great-grandchildren, Devyn Connor, Bryce Connor, Zeke Connor; and her step-grandchildren Josh Richardson, Drew Richardson. Mary’s life was a testament to the power of living out her faith in Christ. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. As we mourn her passing, we celebrate her reunion with her “Sonny Boy” and take comfort in knowing that her legacy of kindness and faith will live on through the lives she touched. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Church, 1013 Westover Dr. Danville, VA 24541. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. There will be a private graveside immediately following the service. The family respectfully asks for social distancing to be practiced to protect those with compromised immune systems. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Fairview Church or God’s Storehouse in Mary’s honor. Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is respectfully serving the Connor family.
