Roy Lee Bibee, Sr.

Roy Lee Bibee, Sr., 89, of 420 Owl Road, Ringgold, VA, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Brookdale Senior Living in Danville, after a decline in health over the past seven months. Roy was born on July 22, 1936, in Rockingham County, to the late Joe L. Bibee and Myrtle Haley Bibee. Roy proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 – 1957, where he was stationed in Germany. Upon his completion in the Army, he served active duty in the National Guard for 17 years where he was a head cook. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber where he worked in the Banbury Department. Roy was a charter member of the Non-Denominational Christian Tabernacle where he served as a Deacon and choir member. Roy spent most of his life in the Mountain Hill Community. On April 5, 1958, Roy married the love of his life, Sylvia Harris Bibee, who predeceased him on December 4, 2000. Roy is survived by his children, Roy Lee Bibee, Jr., of Ringgold, VA; Kathy Bibee Crane, of Danville, VA; son-in-law, David Owen, of Danville, VA; Grandchildren, Jason Bibee; Josh (Stephanie) Owen; Lucas Owen; Justin (Emily) Bibee; Nick (Sheena) Bibee; Nat (Jami) Bibee; Jessi (John) Thurman; Jami (Zach) Edwards; Katie (Blake) Kitzmiller; and Sheena (William) Knicley; and 17 cherished great-grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Hamlett, of Kernersville, NC, and Margaret Helfquist, of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, lifelong friends, and neighbors who will forever cherish his memory. “Roy will be remembered for his gentle spirit, quiet wisdom, steadfast faith, and unwavering devotion to his family. His greatest legacy is not only the family he loved so deeply, but the countless memories he created by simply showing up, offering encouragement from the sidelines, celebrating every milestone, and reminding those he loved that they always had someone in their corner. Though our hearts are saddened by his passing, we find comfort in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ, whom Roy faithfully served. We also find peace in knowing he has been reunited with his beloved wife, Sylvia, and his daughter, Pattie. His love, guidance, and example will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.” In addition to his parents and wife, Roy was predeceased by his daughter, Pattie Bibee Owen; brothers, Jimmy Bibee and David Bibee; sisters, Helen Underwood, Sue B. Goins, and Betty Gibson. Funeral Services for Roy will be conducted on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at the Non Denominational Christian Tabernacle with Rev. David Owen officiating. Interment will follow the service in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Army. The family will receive friends on Monday Night, from 6:00 P.M. – 7:30 P.M. at the church. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 420 Owl Road, Ringgold, VA 24586.
