Rufus Weldon Morris

Rufus Weldon Morris, Sr., 82, of Ringgold, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at the Woltz Hospice Home, Dobson, NC, after being in declining health for the past year. Mr. Morris was born in South Boston, VA, on March 26, 1939, a son of the late Andrew Jackson Morris and the late Barbara Mae Ford Morris. He spent most of his life in the Danville area where he worked for Dan River Mills for 40 years. He then went to work for ABB in South Boston, VA, until his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars and watching NASCAR races. He was of the Baptist Faith. On April 8, 1961, he married Marion Virginia Creasy Morris, who survives of the residence. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Rufus Weldon Morris, Jr. (Paula), Stacy Todd Morris (Wendy), and Michael Allison Morris (Angela); six grandchildren, Matthew Morris (Ashley), Amanda Lloyd (Charlie), Zachary Morris (Brianna), Walker Morris (Sarah Jo), Mikayla Morris (Cody), and Jonathan Patterson (Haley); four great grandchildren, Rhett Patterson, Riley Patterson, Chloe Lloyd, and Sarah Lloyd; a brother, Lawrence Morris; special sister-in-laws, who he was like a father to, Becky Echols and Debbie Root; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Edwin Morris; and a sister, Elizabeth Adkins. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with Rev. Allen Morris and Rev. Dr. Danny Campbell officiating. Interment will follow the service in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The Funeral Service will be live-streamed from Wrenn-Yeatts for those that are unable to attend.
