Thomas Hunt

Mr. Thomas Walker Hunt, age 68, of 218 Hunt Road, Milton, N.C., died on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at his residence after eighteen months of declining health. Mr. Hunt was born on April 4, 1944 in Danville, Va., a son of the late Holmes Penn Hunt and the late Mabel Johnson Hunt. He was a graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School, Class of 1962. He lived his entire life in Milton and retired after forty years with Lorillard Tobacco Company. His main passion after retirement was looking after the family farm and his cows. He was a life time member of Milton Presbyterian Church. On January 7, 1967, he was married to Nancy Hart Hunt, who survives. In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by one sister, Patsy Bass and husband, Donald of Ringgold, one brother, Bobby Glenn Hunt of Milton and fiancée, Shelby Cope Gregory of Ringgold. He was predeceased by his brother, Holmes Penn Hunt, Jr. and a sister-in-law, Lorena Merritt Hunt. Mr. Hunt is also survived by a special brother-in-law, Britt Hart and wife, Penny of Seminole, Fla., two special nieces, Blaire Loman and husband, Matt of Midlothian, Va., Laura Branch and husband, Chuck of Richmond,Va. a special nephew, Glenn Hunt and wife, Courtney of Ashburn, Va., one great niece, Lily Loman, three great nephews, Luke Loman, Charlie Branch and Connor Hunt. Mr. Hunt is also survived by his beloved dog ?Casey? and his donkey, ?Jake? During Mr. Hunt?s illness he was very appreciative to his devoted family and friends who graciously stepped in to help in and around the farm when he was no longer able to do so. The family extends their heartfelt love and ?thank you? to special friends, Wayne and Bev Wilkerson, Charlie and Sue Abercrombie, Tom and Betty Leggett, Bobby Gene Atkinson, Jim and Foye Lockhart, Dana Lockhart, Wesley and Diane Yarbrough, Ben and Laura Wolfe, Larry Burnett, Sterling Saunders and Jimmie and Judy Williams. Your generosity and love will never be forgotten. The family would also like to express their appreciation to the entire staff of Danville Hematology and Oncology, especially Dr. Timothy Brotherton, Dr. Veshana Ramiah, Laura Young-Ligon and all the loving and caring nurses who took care of Thomas. Also, the family would like to offer a special appreciation to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell for their excellent care. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am. on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Phillip Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the residence, 218 Hunt Road, Milton, N.C.
