Virl Guill

Virl Campbell Guill, 76, of 636 Homestead Trail Ringgold, VA passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the Kindred Hospital. She had been in declining health for three years. Mrs. Guill was born January 19, 1935 in Danville the daughter of Noland B. Campbell and Ila Tanksley Campbell. She had lived her adult life in the Kentuck community and prior to her retirement worked as a teacher?s aide at Dan River Elementary School. Mrs. Guill was a very active member of Blairs Baptist Church where she was a past president of the WMU, a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, served as interim choir director, was active with the Recycled Teens and served on numerous church committees. On September 3, 1951 she was married to Willie J. Guill, Jr. who survives. Survivors in addition to her husband, of the home, include her four children, Dennis Wayne Guill and wife, Lorene of Ringgold, Michael Keith Guill and wife, Dianne of Danville, Robin G. Moore and husband, Gary of Chester and Laura G. Simon and husband, Alan of Richmond; ten grandchildren, Heather D. Coleman (Jeremy), Christopher M. Guill (Stephanie), Robert C. Gunnell (Candice), Denny W. Guill (Christie), Jeffrey B. Guill (Ashley), Michelle L. Moore, Jonathan L. Moore (Jennifer), Adam D. Simon, Alex D. Simon and Christa M. Simon and ten great-grandchildren, Zack Guill, Autumn Guill, Layla Guill, Jack Moore, Angelina Coleman, Cedric Daniel Coleman, Tristyn Guill, Halley Guill, Blake Lear, and Nate Gunnell. Mrs. Guill was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rachel Simon; a sister, Judy Grubbs; a half-sister, Kathleen Smith and a brother, Noland B. Campbell, Jr. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. from the Blairs Baptist Church with the Reverend Rick Lancaster officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. before the service at the church and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Blairs Baptist Church Building Fund at 5260 US Highway 29 North Blairs, VA 24527.
