Ada Kirby Nicks

Ada Kirby Nicks of 3775 N.C. Hwy 86 S, Yanceyville, N.C. 27379 passed away peacefully into Gods hands at Sovah Health of Danville, VA on December 28, 2017. Mrs. Nicks was born in Caswell County on April 22, 1925 to the late John Henry and Eva Clayton Kirby. She was the wife of the late William T. Nicks (Bill). Ada graduated from the former Prospect Hill High School and studied at the University of N.C. at Greensboro, N.C. In 1971, she went to work for Caswell County Agricultural Extension Service. She was awarded a Certificate of Recognition in 1974. She later went to work for the Caswell County School as a substitute teacher and a caregiver before retirement. Ada was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary 7316 of Yanceyville, NC, where she served as President, Chaplain, Jr. and Sr. Vice President and she served on many other committees. Her memory will live on for collections for the VFW Poppies Fund. She was known for making fried apple and peach pies for the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Church fundraising. She was a member of ABWA. Ada will be remembered by her family and friends her love, laughter and devotions to her family. Ada is survived by three daughters; Judy Nicks of Jackson, TN, Sue Hamlett, husband Richard of Milton, NC, Becky Clark, husband Mike of Steadman, NC; one son, Danny Nicks of High Point, NC; Nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Cobb of Yanceyville, NC, Lucy McBroom of Mebane, NC; two brothers, Coy Kirby, wife Susie Joe, Joe Kirby of Mebane, NC; and a number of Nieces and Nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, son, Noland Kirby Nicks on May 15, 2014, three sisters, Ester Turner, Mildred Phelps, and Martha Kirk, and six brothers, J. B., Billy, Franklin, James, Harvey, and Henry Kirby. Funeral services will be conducted for Ada at 11:00 a.m. on Sat. Dec. 30, 2017 at Hebron United Methodist Church by Rev. Warren Cash. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service and at other times at the residence, 3775 NC Hwy 86 South, Yanceyville, NC 27379. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to Hebron Church Fellowship Building Fund of Cemetery Fund c/o Mrs. Darlene Vernon, 5188 NC Hwy 119 South, Mebane, NC 27302.
