Earl David Cook

Earl “David” Cook, 83, of 126 Pear Tree Road, Sutherlin, VA, died on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at his residence after a decline in health for the last eight months. David was born in Danville, VA on June 25, 1940, a son of the late Earl Barton Cook and Myrtle Hungate Cook. He was a graduate of George Washington High School and then attended RPI College in Richmond for two years then he went on to attend Berkley College of Music. David worked at Lowes until his retirement. Prior to working at Lowes he was employed with Leed’s Music where he worked in sales, taught music and was Vice President. He was a member of the Tabernacle where he sung in the choir. On June 20, 1981 he married Dianne Grubbs Cook who survives of the residence. In addition to his wife, David is survived by his children, Lynne Freeman, Melody Turner (Rodney), Jennifer Amos (Kent), Kimberly Moser (Walter), and Michelle White (Joey); his grandchildren, Ethan Freeman, Nicholas Freeman, Timmy Stowe, Andrew Baggerly, Jordan Vicks, Jessica Amos, Ethan Moser, Jordan Powell, Addison Powell, Harper White, and Collier White; and eight great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; and two siblings, Ann Cook and Walter Cook. He touched everyone’s life he crossed paths with. If he couldn’t make it to Sunday school or church service, you know he didn’t feel well. He loved to sing in the choir at the Tabernacle, and he wasn’t missing God’s word for anything. He could play a piano like no other, and had a passion for music. His faith and love to Jesus was tremendous. His faith was everything to him. That’s what made him the man he was. Patient, kind, loving, forgiving, and a protector. He will forever be loved and missed. A celebration of David’s life will be conducted on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. at the Tabernacle with the Reverend Danny Campbell and the Reverend Joey Bray officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. and at other times the family will be at the residence, 126 Pear Tree Road, Sutherlin, VA 24594.
