Jean Gibson

Jean Dodson Gibson, 76, of 1627 Old NC Hwy 86 North, Yanceyville, NC went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Alamance Regional after being in declining health for two years. Mrs. Gibson was born in Semora, NC on March 3, 1948, daughter of the late Glen Gene Dodson and Mary Barker Dodson. She lived most of her life in the Semora community prior to moving to Yanceyville, NC. She grew up on a farm where she drove tractors and strung tobacco. Later, she worked at Royal Textile, Burlington Industries and North Village Pharmacy. On March 3, 1965, She married Paul Revere Gibson who survives at the home. Also surviving are her daughter, Teresa Jean Crumpton (Benny) of Yanceyville, NC, son, John Paul Gibson (Kristi) of Cherry Grove, NC, special family, Jennifer Toth ( Daniel), Taylor and Bradley of Newport News, VA, four grandchildren, Trevor Denny (Harlee) of Yanceyville, NC, Amanda Ward (Corey) of Pelham, NC, Kayla Toms (Will) of Ruffin, NC, Brianna Blake (Ethan) of Reidsville, NC, one special great grandson, the apple of Mama Jean’s eye, Tate O’Neal “Rooster” Ward, two step grandchildren, Tabitha and Johnny Crumpton, five step great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Carolyn Dodson Thomas and her brother, Michael G. Dodson. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 2 PM at Community Baptist Church, 3050 Old NC Highway 86 North, Yanceyville, NC with Reverend Garland Walker, Pastor Ricky Lewis and Vernon Massengill officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 6 PM until 8 PM at Community Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Gibson-Hamlett Family Cemetery, 3060 Culver Road, Blanch, NC. The family will be receiving friends at the residence at 1627 Old NC Hwy 86 North, Yanceyville, NC at other times. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial donations be made to Community Baptist Church, 3050 old Hwy 86 N, Yanceyville, NC 27379 or Noonan Syndrome Foundation, 605 SW US Hwy 40, Suite 277, Blue Springs, MO 64014.
